What is Acupuncture?

Classical acupuncture is a vast body of ancient knowledge collected and complied over many centuries by the Chinese. It is a system of diagnosing and treating disease using fine needles inserted into specific points on the body. The practice dates back thousands of years.
The basis for a classical understanding of acupuncture’s effects is Taoism, an ancient philosophy which has as its first principle the concept of Yin and Yang through the body. Classical acupuncturists insert needles into acupuncture points to either increase or decrease the amount of energy in a given organ system, in order to balance Yin and Yang. Resorting Yin and Yang restores health and vitality of the body.

Acutherapy (needle, electro, or pressure therapy applied to traditional acupuncture points or nerve points) is based on “chi,” an unseen energy force that flows throughout the body in a series of channels. “Chi” is considered the vital life force. “Chi” keeps the blood circulating, fighting disease, warms the body and regulate the functioning of organs. All channels are paired, with each Yin channel coupled with a Yang channel.

Although not well understood in the West, Eastern acutherapy does have a place in conventional medicine due to its success with many chronic lifestyle disorders which often respond poorly to drugs and surgery. There is almost complete lack of adverse side effects and complications.

Non-Needle Acupuncture

This unique system incorporates the wisdom of ancient philosophies with a modern electro-therapy technology. This non-invasive treatment is safe, simple, effective and gentle. Micro-current stimulation, a mild millionth of an ampere current is applied to acupuncture points. This provides immediate pain relief, decrease muscle tonicity, and accelerate tissue repair for any form of musculoskeletal disorder. Treatment sessions are approximately ½ hour. This treatment is highly recommended for children who require acupuncture or those who belief in acupuncture principal but afraid of needles. Research proves that micro-current increase ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) resulting in improved cell metabolism, injury repair and soft tissue cell regeneration (Chege et al.1982).
