The Pan Am games are starting in a few days and I am so excited to be a part of it. 6500 athletes and supporting staff from 41 countries across the continent are coming to our city on July 4th.
This is the largest multi-sport game that Canada has ever hosted and I am joining the ranks as a medical volunteer. So far, I have been assigned to assist the medical team for swimming, synchronized swimming, diving, rollersport speed skating and Women’s baseball.
Not only do I get the privilege of meeting and treating world class athletes, I also get the chance to observe and work with the organization behind the scenes, meeting all the amazing people who have worked so hard to make the games happen.
This will be an extraordinary experience in my life and I am very excited to see how I can use my training and physiotherapy background to assess sport related injuries from such a wide range of activities.
I’ll keep you posted on how everything goes!
Let the games begin!
